Make memories with mum this Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day (Sunday 22nd March) is rapidly approaching, so now is the time to plan how to treat your mum on this special day.
Whatever she loves – a luxurious spa day, an old-fashioned afternoon tea or something a bit more adventurous – you don’t have top go far to create a memorable day. There are plenty of ways to spoil her right here in North Wales!
A girly spa day is the perfect opportunity for you and mum to relax and spend time together, so why not treat mum to some much-needed R&R?
Choose from a host of ultra-modern, luxurious spas at some of the finest hotels in North Wales. There’s something for everyone, whether it’s a sauna, swim, treatment or gym session that mum loves.
We love The Marina Spa at the Quay Hotel & Spa in Deganwy. Rev yourself up in the pool then completely relax with an indulgent treatment followed by a light lunch, enjoying views across the Conwy estuary. KinSpa at the Kinmel Hotel is just off the A55 near Abergele. KinSpa offers a range of tempting treatments as well as a pool, thermal spa, gym and the Tranquility Relaxation Suite overlooking gorgeous Welsh countryside.
Tea for two
If mum pales at the prospect of donning her cossie another way to spend quality time together is having a natter over a cup of tea… but not just any old cuppa.
Afternoon Teas have enjoyed a revival in recent years and the variety and standard of teas in North Wales is outstanding – you will be spoilt for choice!
Our favourites? The St Tudno Hotel in Llandudno serves an award-winning Welsh afternoon tea, using local ingredients to create some delicious Welsh teatime treats. A bit more quirky is Characters Tea Room, also in Llandudno. It offers a selection of homemade cakes and pastries in surroundings straight out of a Lewis Carroll book!
If mum likes a walk on the wild side, North Wales has plenty to offer too! It’s not for nothing the region has been crowned the Adventure Capital of the UK and thrill seekers young and old are well catered for here.
Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog is home to Titan, the world’s largest zip zone. Fy down three (yes, three!) ziplines over slate quarries recently nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status – you’ll soon understand why! If heights aren’t Mum’s thing, how about a surf lesson at Adventure Parc Snowdonia? It’s the world’s first (and, we think, the best) inland surf lagoon. For the ultimate adrenaline-fuelled Mother’s Day, climb aboard a Rigid Inflatable Boat for a high-speed cruise along the Menai strait with RibRide. It’s a unique way of seeing the Welsh coast – but not for the faint-hearted!
