It’s the one day of the year when everything stops for Mum and this year Mother’s Day takes place on Sunday 11 March.
Forget the schmaltzy cards, the clichéd chocolates and the supermarket flowers and give her something she’ll really love. Whatever sort of Mum you have, we’ve got some great suggestions for treating her to a Mother’s Day she’ll never forget.
Challenge Mum to a ride on the Fforest Coaster, Zip World’s newest adrenaline-pumping attraction. Mum will whoosh through the trees at lightning speed – ride together or separately, it’s up to you. The Stables Bar at the Royal Oak Hotel in Betws is a great place to relive the day’s adventures over a meal.
A visit to MOSTYN contemporary art gallery in Llandudno will please any Mum of an arty persuasion. As well as cutting edge modern exhibits the gallery embraces local art and artists, making every visit a unique experience. Cultural appetite sated, head upstairs for a bite to eat at the Gallery Cafe.
Treat Mum to a day of retail therapy in Rhos on Sea. No big names here, this quaint seaside village is chock-full of boutiques and private shops that will charm and tempt in equal measure. Afterwards, shout her lunch at Bryn Williams’ restaurant at Porth Eirias on the seafront.
If Mum loves gardening then she’s probably been to Bodnant Garden (more than once) already but a stroll through the early season displays, combined with a slap-up meal at the Tal-y-Cafn pub nearby, will be a special family day to remember.
But if Mum just needs a well-earned break, why not treat her to a Refresh Spa Day at the Kinmel Manor Hotel Kinspa near Abergele? She’ll enjoy all-day access to the pool and hydrotherapy suite plus a choice of treatments and a delicious lunch or afternoon tea in the hotel’s restaurant.
Whatever you choose for Mum, we know she’ll love it!
