With that all-too familiar chill returning to the air, we can’t deny it any longer; winter is coming and Christmas with it!
You might not have started on your Christmas shopping list yet but now’s the time to get into the spirit of things and plan a merry little day out!
During November and December, you don’t have to endure never ending car journeys into packed city centres for the complete Christmas market experience. North Wales has its share of fabulous Christmas fayres too!
Hunt out a unique gift for a loved one; unearth some gorgeous handmade decorations for your home; or just build up your winter food and drink stockpile. Christmas markets offer a brilliant day out for the whole family; here’s our round up of the biggest and best across the region.
Llandudno Christmas Fayre 17th – 20th November
Head to North Wales’s most famous seaside resort for the annual Christmas Fayre, which has rapidly become one of the biggest fixtures in the town calendar. Here you can enjoy traditional festive entertainment, including carols and Santa’s grotto, while you stroll around the hundreds of food, craft and gift stalls on display. It’s a great day out, whatever the weather, as many of the stalls are safely undercover!
New for 2016, the fayre hosts the first annual Bara Brith competition! This delicious fruit bread, considered the most Welsh of teatime treats, will come under scrutiny from a panel of well-known local foodies.

Plas Newydd Christmas Craft Fair, Anglesey 2nd – 5th December
The craft fair at this beautiful country estate boasts over sixty stalls full of Christmassy treats and handmade gifts but it’s the venue that makes it a really memorable occasion. With the house decked out in all its seasonal finery we defy visitors not to feel Christmassy by the time they leave!
That jolly elf, Father Christmas, will interrupt his busy schedule to drop in too! Believers of all ages can visit him in him in his log cabin in the woods to receive a small gift (£2 fee applies).
Christmas Carnival at Denbigh Town Hall, Denbigh 10th December
The jewel in the Vale of Clwyd, this historic market town will be hosting a Carnival Christmas Extravaganza, with dozens of irresistible stalls selling local cheeses, preserves, chocolate and other yummy delights – everything you could wish for a delicious Christmas! A festive movie will keep little ones entertained, while carol singers and lots of crafty activities will add to the seasonal atmosphere. There might just be an impromptu appearance from Father Christmas, too!
